Lafayette College Theater will close its 1998-99 season with a special outdoor production of William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Performances will be held at 7 p.m., April 21-24 on the hillside between Colton Chapel and the Simon Center for Economics and Business Administration. Tickets are $6 and may be purchased by calling the Williams Center box office, 610-330-5009.

Suzanne R. Westfall, associate professor of English, directs one of the Bard’s best-loved comedies. Jason Rosenbaum ’99 of Greenwich, Conn., Susanna Hoffman ’00 of Douglaston, N.Y., and Rob Alessi ’00 of Moorestown, N.J., are assistant directors. Megan Thomas ’01 of Greenbelt, Md., is stage manager and Lindsay Brown ’01 of Wilmington, Del., is assistant stage manager.

Costumes are by D. Polly Kendrick of Parrott Designs. Richard Kendrick is technical director. Sound design is by Tim Frey and set design by Martha Posner.

Zakia Dilday ’02 of Boston, Mass., is Hippolyta, Queen of the Amazons. Sam Shaw ’00 of Tupper Lake, N.Y., plays Theseus, Duke of Athens. Jeff Palmer ’99 of Martinsburg, W. Va., plays Egeus, while Vilas Menon ’02 of The Netherlands plays Philostrate.

Chris Johnston ’99 of Timonium, Md., is Oberon, king of the faries, and Jill Geisenheimer ’02 of Saddle River, N.J., is Titania, the fairy queen. Puck is played by Meghan Triffitt ’02 of Lynn, Mass., and Andrew DiFazio ’02 of Gorham, Maine.

Rose Pilato ’02 of Redding, Conn., is Hermia and Sandy Veresink ’02 of Easton, Pa., is Helena. Michael Higdon ’99 of Visalia, Calif., plays Lysander, and Jeff Wren ’99 of Severna Park, Md., plays Demetrius.

The mechanicals include Andrew Bostian ’02 of Seekonk, Mass., as Nick Bottom; David Gross ’02 of Willow Grove, Pa., as Peter Quince; Ben Ellenwood ’99 of West Hartford, Conn., as Francis Flute; Bob Hawkey ’01 of Hainesport, N.J., as Tom Snout; Jason Blum ’99 of Mt. Laurel, N.J., as Robin Starveling; and Dwayne Thomas ’01 of Brooklyn, N.Y., as Snug.
