Marquis Scholar Becky Dreibelbis ’02 of Hamburg, Pa. is completing an internship this summer at the environmental consulting firm Environmental Alliance, Inc. in Middlesex, N.J. The company specializes in site assessment and remediation. Dreibelbis is assisting in a number of tasks both in the office and in the field.

“I’ve been doing a variety of field and office work,” says Dreibelbis, who is majoring in geology and environmental geosciences with a minor in environmental science. “I did water sampling on one site where there was a spill in order to determine where the contamination was. I’ve also been doing file reviews, highlighting certain issues in files for staff.”

Operations manager Robert Chernow ’80 arranged the internship. “We hope to expose Becky to all the different aspects of environmental consulting as well as offer her the experience of a real-life job,” he says. “Internships are great both for us and the student.”

Dreibelbis credits the Lafayette Job Vault and Career Services for the opportunity to venture into the work force.

“The Job Vault is such a great program. There are postings in every field you could imagine. It’s helpful to someone like me who isn’t entirely sure what their plans are after graduation,” she says. “This internship has been a great experience.”

Becky Dreibelbis is in the Choir and Pep Band, and is a co-president of Lafayette Environmental Awareness and Protection.
