Plant Operations will initiate a campus-wide power outage at 11:30 p.m. today that will last until 8 a.m. tomorrow.

“Essentially, our customers should not be inconvenienced by this,” notes George Xieques, assistant director of engineering and physical plant operations.

As a result of the outage, Computing Services will shut down all systems and servers at 4:30 p.m. Staff will attempt to restore non-Banner-related services by Saturday, but this will depend upon the length of the power outage. In order for the database backup to be completed, Banner will not be available until Monday morning.

The impact on campus is the following:

  • before leaving today, everyone should turn off all computers and printers;
  • access to the network, Banner, email, servers, Internet, Blackboard\CourseInfo, etc. will be unavailable beginning 4:30 p.m. today;
  • even when power is restored Saturday, the services may not be available immediately;
  • Banner access will not be available until 8:15 a.m. Monday to allow Computer Services to complete its backup.

If there are any problems Monday morning, call the help desk for assistance – x5501 for faculty and staff, x5506 for students.
