Award-winning poet Jen Bryant will read from her work 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7, at the Williams Visual Arts Building, the new venue of the Riverside Reading Series.

The event is free and open to the public; a $3 donation is recommended.

Bryant is the latest recipient of the Poetry Award for Excellence from American Literary Review. Her poems have appeared in The Pittsburgh Quarterly, Poet Lore, The Paterson Literary Review and many other journals. She is the author of 12 biographies for children and young adults and has written numerous reviews, interviews, and articles for Image and Highlights Magazine.

Bryant earned her master’s degree from Arcadia University and teaches at West Chester University.

Future poets in the Riverside Reading Series will be Deena Linett, Oct. 5; Daisy Fried, Nov. 2; and Rick Kearns, Dec. 7. Past readers have included Pushcart Prize-winning poet and author Lee Upton, professor of English and the first faculty member at Lafayette to hold the title writer-in-residence.
