Robin Andre and his six-piece band will perform 9 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 1 in the Bergethon Room.

Nicknamed “Boy Wonder,” Andre has been a ubiquitous presence on the entertainment scene as a dancer, actor, singer — even a party MC. “He’s an incredible musician,” says Carter Beauford, drummer for the Dave Matthews Band, who played on the album Humanitarian and invited Robin and his band to open eight shows during the Dave Matthews Band’s 1999 tour. “He’s a great vocalist, a great keyboardist — his stage presence is just amazing. He’s outstanding, by all means.”

The preceding night, comedienne Alexandra McHale will appear at the Farinon snackbar at 9 p.m., kicking off the Lafayette Activities Forum’s slate of events for the 2001-2002 school year. McHale has been a regular at The Comic Strip, Catch a Rising Star, and Caroline’s. She also is well known in improv circles, having performed with N20 Comedy, The Bottlerockets, and All Legs, No Brains. She has performed on the comedy show “New Joke City” with Robert Klein.
