Volunteers are accepting cash and meal equivalency donations to the Red Cross and blood donor commitments at Farinon Center tables between noon-1 p.m. this week.

Wood Dining Services is enabling each student to donate the cash equivalency of one meal from next week’s meal plan to the Red Cross. The company will give the Red Cross what the food costs would have been for that meal. The offer is applicable to meal plans only; flex dollars cannot be donated.

Volunteers also are handing out cards for those interested in donating blood at the Tuesday, Nov. 27 blood drive on campus. “People obviously can give blood now at Miller (Memorial Blood Center),” says Gary Miller, college chaplain. “If they give now, they’ll be ineligible to be blood donors on Nov. 27. Rather than push people to give now, when a lot of blood and donors are available, we’re signing up people to give blood when the blood bank comes here.”

On the cards being distributed this week, donors are indicating convenient times for giving blood at the November drive. Landis Community Outreach staff will provide reminders and appointment times as the date for the blood drive nears.

Directions to Miller Memorial Blood Center in Hanover Township also are available at the Farinon Center tables. Those interested in donating blood there are asked to call in advance for an appointment at (610) 691-5850.
