Homa Naderi, a freelance journalist covering Afghanistan for CNN, will give a talk about the country 7-8:30 p.m. in the Simon Center auditorium.

The event is free and open to the public.

A fluent speaker in Farsi, Naderi graduated with a master’s degree in political science from Lehigh University and a bachelor’s degree in international relations from Muhlenberg College. She has worked as a clerk in the Lehigh County Courthouse, Allentown, Pa., carrying out special projects within the Civil Division, among other responsibilities. She also has been a legal assistant at the law offices of Dawn M. Lurie, Washington, D.C., and donor database manager for Focus Humanitarian Assistance, Falls Church, Va.

Naderi served an internship with Amnesty International at its Washington, D.C. office, where she focused on human rights in Central and South Asian countries, primarily Pakistan and India. In addition to conducting research, she held meetings with State Department officials and attended Congressional hearings, press conferences, embassy events, and other functions.
