Carpenter Technology Corporation, a manufacturer and distributor of stainless steel, specialty alloys, and titanium, has appointed Toni M. Brugger '82 to head its coil business group. The group is one of three specialty alloy business units newly created within the company. Brugger leads a team of technical, sales, marketing, and financial personnel focused on specific products.

“We've taken a large business and segmented it into three manageable pieces,” says Brugger. “We'll be quicker, more focused, and more responsive to our customers. Plus we'll improve communications within our group.”

Brugger joined Carpenter in 1994 as a senior metallurgist and has since held several management positions in the technical and sales and marketing departments. Most recently she was involved in implementing changes to Carpenter's inquiry and order management systems to improve customer service and streamline internal processes. She was previously with Phoenix Steel, where she led the technical department and was manager of product development. She is a past chairman of the American Society for Metals International.

“Dr. Leon McGeady was a real inspiration to me at Lafayette,” says Brugger, a metallurgical engineering graduate. “He had tremendous enthusiasm and could show the excitement of working in metallurgy and materials. He could discuss the business side of the field as well.”
