Cell Robotics International, Inc., of Albuquerque, N.M., the developer and manufacturer of LasetteĀ®, a diabetes management product, has appointed Thomas Goslau '89 as vice president, sales and marketing. “My International Affairs major made me open to understanding and working with cultural differences,” says Goslau. “The college's tremendous emphasis on writing was also critical to my success in Asia. It was very important for me to be able to present my thoughts clearly in English.”

Goslau was previously general manager, international sales and marketing, for Sooil Development Company in Seoul, South Korea, a manufacturer and developer of insulin pumps. He is the former regional director of Asia for ESC Medical Systems, Inc., a manufacturer of lasers and intense pulse light devices for use in aesthetic and general surgery.

Goslau spent two years in Japan as an English teacher and ski instructor. Later he found that European employers were very receptive to his familiarity with Japanese language and culture, and less concerned about his lack of business credentials. He worked 18 months as a shipping and trading analyst for a firm in the Netherlands before moving to the medical products field.
