New Mexico Business Weekly has selected Brett Hills '94 as one of the “Forty under Forty,” a list of “smartest, shrewdest, most connected, most influential” young people in the New Mexico business community. In April 2000, Hills cofounded NMBars.com, a company that promotes and provides a web presence for bars and other nightlife options in New Mexico. In December 2000, he started NMRestaurants.com, which provides a similar service for restaurants. NMBars.com includes “Bar Bucks” that users can print out for discounts at participating bars, while NMRestaurants.com is accessible via wireless web devices.

Hills received an M.B.A. from University of New Mexico. The Taos resident previously lived in Philadelphia, where he managed a brewpub and became an accomplished extreme skier. He has been involved with Planned Parenthood and the UNM Designated Driver Program, and has been a sponsor of Safe-Ride Home and the Child Rite Adoption agency in Taos.

“Lafayette provided me with strong research, writing, and communication skills,” he says. “As a history major I was exposed to an inspirational faculty who shared a common passion for their discipline. Today, I bring passion to every aspect of my life. Passion fuels my entrepreneurial dream of having a successful business.”
