Vice president for human resources and general counsel at Lafayette, Leslie Muhlfelder '81 was the top fund-raiser at a recent Muscular Dystrophy Association event.

Muhlfelder was one of more than 130 area business professionals who volunteered to be taken to Café Aaron in Easton on Jan. 18. There the “jailbirds” served a one-hour “sentence,” using donated cell phones to call various business associates, friends, and family to raise “bail.” She raised the MDA goal of $2,700 for each individual.

The event surpassed last year's total of $45,000. All proceeds will be used to fund program services for Northampton and Warren county patients, including a summer camp program for children ages 6-12, wheelchair purchases and repairs, clinic visits to a rehabilitation hospital, and research into the causes and cure for muscular dystrophy.
