The Chorduroys will perform a blend of new songs and crowd favorites 8 p.m. tonight at the Farinon Center atrium. The a cappella concert will open with the PennyLoafers from the University of Pennsylvania.

The event is free and open to the public.

The Chorduroys will perform “Just What I Needed,” The Cars; “More Than A Feeling,” Boston; “My Own Worst Enemy,” Lit; “Move On,” Five O’Clock Shadow; “Vincent,” Don McLean; “Lightning Crashes,” Live; “Cecilia,” Simon & Garfunkel; and “Message in a Bottle,” The Police, as well as other favorites and new songs.

The Chorduroys recently were selected to compete in the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella. The group will travel to SUNY Binghamton on Feb. 9 to square off against five other college groups from the Mid-Atlantic region. This is the second year that the Chorduroys have been selected to compete in the international competition.

The group also is in the process of recording songs for its second album. Assisting on the project are former Chorduroy Sam Shaw ’00 and Tom DiGiovanni ’96, director of the Lafayette Pep Band and Orchestra Ensemble. The album is expected to be released by the end of the spring semester.

The Chorduroys are comprised of the following students: Joe Benoit ’04, Josh Brodsky ’03, Creighton Conner ’04, Jeremy Deaner ’04, Mike Koumaras ’03, Jeremy Lucas ’03, Rob McEwen ’05, Dan Miller ’03, Dave Mitchell ’05, Jason Salisbury ’04, Chris Secules ’02, Andrew Segan ’05, and Simon White ’02.
