Six young alumni returned to campus Feb. 6 for a roundtable discussion on investment banking sponsored by the student chapter of Omicron Delta Epsilon, the national honor society for men and women studying economics.

Held in the Simon Center auditorium, the discussion gave the 68 students in attendance the opportunity to learn from recent graduates' experiences in the field. The event was organized by Andy Gupta '00 of Goldman Sachs and Shelia Handy, assistant professor of economics and business and faculty adviser of ODE.

Gupta was joined on the alumni panel by fellow investment bankers Elena Sidelnikora '01, J.P. Morgan Chase; Ousmane Diagne '98, Charles Schwab; Navdeep Kalsi '01, Salmon Smith Barney; and Kevin Angelis '01 and Shana Hennigan '01, Merrill Lynch.

“The roundtable discussion was a complete success and very well received by students,” said Handy, noting that students spoke with alumni personally after the presentation. The enthusiasm generated by the forum has led to plans for ODE to sponsor an alumni roundtable discussion annually.

For its next event, ODE began its second year of helping disadvantaged local residents prepare their income tax returns in late February.
