Former Lafayette Trustee Fran Mustaro '72 returned to campus April 22 to share his eyewitness account of the Sept. 11 destruction of the World Trade Center.

He talked about the event's effects on the U.S. economy and what college students can expect upon entering this changed world. His talk was sponsored by the Class of 1963 Lecture Fund.

Mustaro witnessed the effects of the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center from his office on the eighth floor of 388 Greenwich Street, where he works as director/portfolio manager for Citigroup Asset Management.

A recipient of the Clifton P. Mayfield '09 Outstanding Young Alumni Award in 1987, Mustaro was a trustee from 1992-1997 and served on the Maroon Club Executive Committee in 1997-98. He has been a member of Lafayette Leadership Council since 1999. He also has been an alumni mentor for students and a sponsor of the alumni externship program, in which students observe alumni at their jobs to gain insight into their field.

Before graduating with a degree in history, Mustaro played varsity football and was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta fraternity, Interfraternity Council, Student Government, Senior Class Gift Committee, and Maroon Key.
