Continuing his career in microelectronics, Mark C. Stibitz ’87 was recently named vice president and general manager of the enterprise and storage division, PMC-Sierra, a leading provider of high-speed broadband communications semiconductors and processors.

The division provides high-speed microchips used to interconnect computers, networking equipment, and data storage systems. “Typical applications include directing the flow of internet traffic and controlling high-speed data networks between corporate data centers and business campus environments,” says Stibitz. The division has product development centers in Allentown, Pa., and Burnaby, British Columbia.

“My Lafayette experience provided me with not only a solid engineering education but also the confidence to challenge myself in my professional career,” says Stibitz, an electrical engineering graduate and member of Tau Beta Pi and Eta Kappa Nu engineering honor societies. “This is a reflection of the quality of the faculty along with the high standards and environment set by the college. I especially want to acknowledge the academic support and ongoing personal encouragement provided by Professor Art Gorman.

Stibitz was previously vice president and general manager at Agere Systems, and held management positions at Lucent Technologies Microelectronics Group and AT&T Microelectronics.
