Fall 2002 phonathons are off to a great start, with the first three events raising almost $135,000 to support programs at Lafayette including student financial aid. Regional phonathons bring alumni, parents and friends together to share current news about the College, rekindle friendships, and assist the Annual Fund in soliciting gifts for Lafayette.

Mark Weisburger ’55 was chair of the Westchester/Fairfield area phonathon, which was held on September 24 at B.D. & A Weisburger Inc., White Plains, NY. It was a huge success raising over $82,000.

A loyal and devoted volunteer group that comes to Westchester year after year volunteered again that evening. Included were: Mark Weiburger ’55, Ed Elbert ’55, Drew Bisset ’67, Roy Raizen ’52, Richard Grossman ’64, Richard Tait ’52, Charlie Daniel ’80, and Melynda Holmes ’78.

Tom Padilla ’78 was host of the Philadelphia suburb phonathon on October 2 at Wachovia Securities, Berwyn, PA. In attendance that evening to help support Lafayette were Ellen Weiler ’83, Beth Ganss ’80, John Kinard ’52, Neil Alexander ’56, Ed Auble ’61, and host Tom Padilla ’78. The group raised $14,590.

Bob Sell ’84 chaired the Central New Jersey phonathon October 8 at Accenture, Florham Park, N.J. A great night of calling raised a total of $38,001. Alumni callers included Bruce Dickerson ’51, Hank Kohlenberger ’51, Bob Sell ’84, Melinda Kraus ’78, Jim Sandford ’57, Michael Saffer ’77, Kit Greene ’56, and Matt Julin ’01.
