Screenings of the movie XXX and a concert by rock band Jonasay comprise the entertainment options offered by Lafayette Activities Forum this weekend.

Starring Vin Diesel, XXX will be shown 7 and 10 p.m. today and Saturday, and 10 p.m. Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday in Limburg Theater, Farinon College Center. Admission is $2 with Lafayette ID.

The action drama stars Diesel as Xander (aka Triple X), a rebellious extreme sports star hired by government representative Gibbons (Samuel L. Jackson) as a secret agent with a mission to travel to Prague and collapse a dangerous terrorist cell operated by Yorgi (Martin Csokas) and the seductive Yelena (Asia Argento). The film is rated PG-13 for violence, sensuality, drug content, and profane language.

The Washington, D.C. quartet Jonasay will give a free concert 9 p.m. tomorrow in the Farinon Center snackbar.

Jonasay describes its sound as “intelligent singer/songwriter pop.” The band produced a recent eleven-track independent release, Spare Dimes for Dust. The lineup is comprised of singer Justin Sheehy, drummer Mike Leach, guitarist Mark Williams, and bass player and backup vocalist Michael Alban.

Phil Ehart, drummer and manager for the band Kansas of “Dust In the Wind” fame, has become a huge supporter of the group, and commented upon hearing its new CD that he “doesn’t recall being this excited about a new CD in [his] 30 years in the business. These guys just don’t miss.”
