Donations are being accepted for a Thanksgiving Food Drive that starts today and runs through Friday, Nov. 22.

Items can be dropped off 1-5 p.m. Monday-Friday and 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at the cargo container in front of the Farinon Center. The residence hall with the largest total weight in food donations will win a pizza party. All donations benefit Second Harvest Food Bank of Lehigh Valley.

Requested items are:

  • sugar and salt
  • rice
  • peanut butter and jelly
  • powdered milk
  • soups
  • hot and cold cereals
  • any non-perishable canned goods (e.g. vegetables, fruits, beans)
  • cake, cookie, and brownie mixes, etc.
  • pasta, including spaghetti and sauce, macaroni and cheese

The food drive, organized by economics and business major Nick Taro ’04 (Bernardsville, N.J.), is part of Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week, Nov. 17-22. Other events of the week include a midnight run to donate food in New York, a “cardboard city” on the Quad, a hunger banquet, a “Faces of Homelessness” brown bag, and donation and information booths in the Farinon and Marquis Dining Halls.
