Mathematics graduate Mark Coslett ’01 will talk about the actuarial profession and summer and full-time employment opportunities at CIGNA 6:30 p.m. today in Pardee Hall room 201.

Coslett’s visit is sponsored by the math department. Pizza and refreshments will be provided free of charge.

Graduating magna cum laude with honors in mathematics, Coslett completed an honors thesis on “The Magic Behind The Black-Scholes Option Pricing Model.” He was supervised by Qin Lu, assistant professor of mathematics.

“Her motivation and her love for mathematics are truly an inspiration,” he wrote in his thesis acknowledgements “Working with Qin for this past year has been a pleasure, to say the least. She will forever hold a place in my life as a mentor and a friend.”

Coslett was a member of Omicron Delta Epsilon and Pi Mu Epsilon, the national honor societies for economics and mathematics, respectively. He was part of a group of students who helped local residents complete their income tax returns at no cost.
