Jeffrey D. Helm, who joined Lafayette’s faculty as assistant professor of mechanical engineering this fall, will discuss his experiences with the business and engineering aspects of industry noon today in Alumni Hall of Engineering room 300.

Free sub sandwiches and hoagies will be provided. The event is sponsored by the student chapter of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.

Helm comes to Lafayette following more than two years as general manager and lead engineer of a firm specializing in the design and sale of non-contacting measurement systems. He earned a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from University of South Carolina in 1999 with a dissertation on out-of-plane buckling of large, thin, middle crack tension specimens. He also holds B.S. and M.S. degrees from South Carolina.
