October 31, 2002

An official meeting of the 2002 Student Government was held in the Farinon Center, Room 12 at 7:05 p.m. There were 13 members present.

I. President’s Report – Morgan Albus
A. MOTION TO APPROVE THE MINUTES from October 24TH.

B. Will be adding upcoming events and other changes to the web page.
C. Elections will be held during the second week of November.
D. ABC is having a workshop in Kirby 104 on Saturday at 12:00 p.m. The theme of the workshop is “Achieving Success in the Workplace.” Please try to attend.
E. LLE is sponsoring an in-service on Tuesday, November 5th, titled “Marketing Yourself.” It will be held at 7:00p.m. in the Marlo Room.

II. Vice President – Amy Giacobone
A. Received rep reports from the Athletics Committee, Library Advisory Committee, and the Student Life Committee.
B. Following up on reports with emails to reps regarding dean’s excuses, library hours, cafĂ©, and Internet capabilities in the newly renovated library.

III. Secretary’s Report – Alex Karapetian
A. The office hours sheet has been made; please attend all times that you sign up for.

IV. Campus Student Services – Brad Ship
A. Spoke to Hugh Harris regarding an assault that took place on campus. He said that Public Safety has a few leads and they believe assailant was a student.
B. Will continue to try to contact Bruce Feretti.

V. Student Life- Meredith Walburg
A. Still working on the pep rally. The t-shirts have been finalized for spirit week.
B. There is an FCC dance coming up. Will need help for it on Friday, November 15.

VI. Student Life – Kate Dickie
A. We have D.J. Sharbel booked for the pep rally.
B. Meeting with Scott Morse and the Sports Marketing Club Monday night at 8 p.m. They would like to be involved with the pep rally.
C. Maria Anea confirmed our reservation of Kamine Gym for the pep rally.
D. A mass email was sent out to all the clubs and student organizations explaining the Lafayette/Lehigh banner-making contest taking place a week before the pep rally and school spirit day.
E. Trying to get in touch with Bruce Feretti so that we have the necessary equipment set up for the pep rally.
F. An email was sent to IFC and Panhel. They would also like to get involved with spirit week and pep rally.

VII. Community Affairs – Lee Goldfarb
A. The blood drive is on November 18th. We need help setting up and breaking down tables.
B. Hillel is having an auction on December 7th. Student Government will help organize and publicize the event.

VIII. Multicultural Affairs – Jenna Menard
A. The AIDS symposium meeting was Friday and they are trying to focus on younger victims ranging from 16-25. I will keep you updated on the event.

IX. Elections – Liz Koskinen
A. There will be a meeting on Thursday, November 7th to set guidelines for all nominees.

X. Greek Liaison – Jonathan Cohn
A. Met with Elliot Sokalasky.
1) He felt that the Greek system is moving in the right direction.
2) He will be starting a newsletter for the Greek system through email.
B. Panhel meeting
1) Coming up with ideas for Greek Week.
2) There will be a study break at Gilbert’s for Greek members on November 7th.
3) Going to be involved in the Lehigh/Lafayette pep rally.
C. IFC meeting
1) Elections are going to be on November 11.
2) Spring bid day is February 7, 2003.

XI. Student Organizations – Charlotte Smith
A. Sending out a letter to the presidents of student organizations stating the new insurance policy regarding driving to and from their events.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:35 p.m. These are the official minutes of the Student Government.
