With more than 13 years experience, Mark B. Friedman ’83 was named chief marketing officer of Brylane Inc., a leading retailer of specialty catalogs, in June. He is responsible for corporate marketing initiatives, which include leading the e-commerce, consumer research, database, and business development functions. He also manages the licensed businesses and strategic alliances.

“Mark’s solid marketing accomplishments and industry expertise, coupled with his experience in brand development will be an asset for us as we further our corporate marketing initiatives,” said Russell Stravitz, Brylane chairman and chief executive officer.

An economics and business graduate, Friedman holds an M.B.A. and was previously chief marketing officer at Brooks Brothers, where he led the marketing team for the retail and factory outlet channels and served as general manager of the catalog and e-commerce channels. Other positions have included vice president of marketing, The Company Store catalog, a division of Hanover Direct, and various positions at Tweeds.

Brylane, Inc., headquartered in New York, includes such brands as Chadwick’s of Boston, Lerner, Lane Bryant, and Brylane Home.
