Open auditions will be held today and Sunday for Mother Courage and Her Children by Bertolt Brecht, which will be performed March 5-8 on the Williams Center main stage.

The auditions will take place 4:15 p.m.-6 p.m. today and 1-3 p.m. Sunday in the Williams Center Black Box.

The play will be directed by Suzanne Westfall, professor of English and theater, who has directed more than a dozen plays at Lafayette.

One of the genuine masterpieces of the 20th century, Brecht’s parable of a struggling army canteen vendor is a startling and timely reminder that the business of any war is always business. David Hare’s translation captures the roughness of Brecht’s original German dialogue and lyrics in an evening of unforgettable characters, culminating in what has been called “the most inspiring moment in all of theater.”
