Government and law major Amy Emerick ’03 (Albany, N.Y.) and Peter T. Holran ’88, deputy general manager of Wexler & Walker Public Policy Associates, will hold a workshop on effective career networking for student leaders 7-8:30 p.m. today in Kirby Hall of Civil Rights.

Titled “Creating Opportunities for Success,” the workshop is part of the annual Lafayette Leadership Education In-service Training Series presented by alumni and current students who have worked with them. Ten to 40 students are expected to attend.

The session “will outline the fundamentals of effective networking and explore why successful people continue to network throughout their lives,” notes Pamela Brewer, associate dean of students and director of Student Life Programs.

Wexler & Walker Public Policy Associates is a Washington-based government relations firm founded in 1981. It is owned by Hill and Knowlton, Inc., an international public relations firm.

Lafayette Leadership Education was established in the fall of 1995 by a group of students, faculty, and administrators. The first two years focused on a February leadership conference for students, and in 1998, a spring series of in-service training workshops was added. The leadership opportunities continued to expand to in-service workshops in the fall and spring, a February institute, and leadership mini-courses during both semesters.
