Songwriter Matt Nathanson, recently signed by Universal Records, will perform 9:45 p.m. tonight in the Farinon Center snack bar.

Sponsored by Lafayette Activities Forum, the free concert is expected to last two hours.

“The songs are melodic and true, and they are certainly lyrically driven,” wrote the San Francisco Examiner. “His lyrics have a real understanding about what it means to be human in an imperfect world, where love is not always returned, or at times returned in a flawed and ultimately destructive fashion.”

Nathanson has spent the past decade performing in coffeehouses and clubs. He has recorded five independent albums and is making his debut on Universal Records this year.
