Lafayette Arts Society is organizing a trip to Muhlenberg College tomorrow for a Jazztap performance at its Dorothy H. Baker Theatre, Trexler Pavilion for Theatre and Dance. The bus will leave the Williams Center at 6:30 p.m. that day.

Those interested in going should sign up on the bulletin board opposite the Williams Center for the Arts box office. The cost is $2 for society members and $7 for others. Lafayette Arts Society reserved 15 tickets for the trip.

The program will feature Shelley Oliver Tap Dancers, David Leonhardt Jazz Group, and the Muhlenberg College Jazztap Ensemble.

“Celebrate the world of jazztap, where the synchronized ensemble dancing, dynamic improvisation and stunning solo work unite the dancer and the musician in making great entertainment,” say event organizers.

Jazztap was chosen for the trip “because we have fans of jazz and dance in our student population, because the idea of ‘jazzbos’ and tap dancers improvising together was interesting, because we think it’s a good thing to take students to see cultural stuff around the Valley, and because the tickets were reasonably priced,” says Allison Blatt, Williams Center operations director.
