The Damiano family, including three alumni and a current student, will hold the third annual local fundraiser for the Make-A-Wish Foundation 7-10 p.m. today at College Hill Tavern, 420 Cattell St.

The evening will include refreshments, fun, and prizes. All proceeds, including donations and money from raffles and an auction, will help children with life-threatening illnesses. Fourteen children in the Lehigh Valley will benefit from the event.

Julia Damiano ’02 founded the fundraiser in 2001, arranging for all donations in addition to organizing the event itself for two years. With Damiano now teaching English and theater to children and teens in Italy, the event is being continued by her parents – Christine, who graduated with her in 2002, and Mark, who graduated in 1974 — and sister Marisa, a junior art major.

The Damiano family was honored last fall with a Restoration Award by Easton Heritage Alliance for work done on their home.

Christine Damiano graduated with honors in art and received Lafayette’s Vivian B. Noblett Prize in Studio Art. She works in the College’s alumni affairs office.

Mark’s father, Joseph N. Damiano, is a 1950 graduate of Lafayette.

Involved in curating exhibits at Lafayette, Julia Damiano received an A.B. degree with majors in history and art. She was awarded the College’s Frederick Knecht Detwiller Prize in art and is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Alpha Theta, the national history honor society.

Marisa has been collaborating with New York City artist Wopo Holup and fellow art major Jackie Bingham ’03 (Lunenburg, Mass.) to organize The Grass Family (Gramineae), an exhibit opening Tuesday at the Williams Visual Arts Building (see related story).
