Cadence, Lafayette’s female a cappella group, will give a senior farewell concert 8 p.m. today at Gilbert’s.
Free and open to the campus community, the concert will pay tribute to senior members Suzanne Montgomery (Thornton, Pa.), a double major in psychology and English; Alison Ahart (Phillipsburg, N.J.), a double major in music and English; and Jessica Coakley (Merrimack, N.H.), a double major in International Affairs and economics & business.
Cadence performed last Thursday at the Shad Arts Celebration in downtown Easton.
Earlier this year, it became the first Lafayette group to advance beyond the quarterfinals of the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella. Performing Feb. 1 at University of Maryland, Cadence finished second, earning a spot in the March 8 semifinals at Dickinson College. English major Alexis Siemons ’05 (Mount Laurel, N.J.) was runner-up for Best Soloist and the group was second in the Best Arrangement category for its rendition of “Standing Still.”
Last year, Cadence released a CD, Beyond Your Front Door. The group gives a number of public performances throughout the school year. More information is available on the Cadence web site.
