Electric power was restored at about 5 p.m. Tuesday, following an outage that had left most Lafayette buildings without power for the entire business day. Due to a malfunctioning Met Ed Co. transformer, power had been out since just before midnight the previous night. Lafayette and Met Ed personnel installed a mobile transformer that had been transported to campus for the emergency and got it up and running in record time.

Because of the efforts of College personnel in several offices the outage caused a minimum of inconvenience for Lafayette classes (all scheduled for after 5 p.m.) and for groups currently using College facilities. Many staff members had been notified before the workday began that they would not be required to report to campus.
