Illusionist Banachek, named Campus Performer of the Year in 1998 and 1999 by the Association for the Promotion of Campus Activities, will perform his act 7:15 p.m. Sunday in Colton Chapel.

Part of Lafayette’s First-Year Orientation program, the event is free and open to the campus community.

“I use the five senses to create the illusion of a sixth sense,” says Banachek.

He performs tricks such as bending silverware by gliding his hand along its surface, reading pieces of paper and discerning objects hanging inches above his head while being blinded by heavy duct tape, and surviving an apparently life-threatening grand finale.

“Banachek is brilliant…a magical thinker of deep, deep subtlety,” say Las Vegas magicians Penn and Teller.

“I applauded the show! Banachek not only performs inexplicable tricks, but he entertains as well,” states the Bay City Tribune/Reporter.
