Incoming students are getting extra help moving into their residence halls amidst the summer heat today.

The student-athletes and coaches of seven fall varsity teams, as well as members of several fraternities and sororities, are on hand to assist the first-year students with their move onto campus. This marks the fifth straight year that student-athletes are volunteering their time to help.

“All the teams on campus want to be involved in community service, and what better way than giving back to your own campus community and helping with the major job that is Move-In Day,” said fourth-year head football coach Frank Tavani. “We’ve been able to provide some manpower to help in the past, and now with all the teams participating it’s all the better.”

This year members of the football, field hockey, cross country, men and women’s soccer, volleyball, and cheerleading squads are participating in Move-In Day. Each team has been assigned a time slot and an area of campus, and team members are wearing a shirt identifying them as a member of the move-in staff.
