Michael Fox ’99 has started a business selling custom suits at the customer’s location. For executives who don’t have the time to make several visits to a traditional clothing store—much less several stores—Michael C. Fox Men’s Wear (www.foxsuits.com) sends

consultants to the client’s home or office to show fabrics, advise on appropriate styles, and take measurements.

According to Fox, the company offers more than 600 suit fabrics and 300 shirt fabrics, a selection that allows customers to create a look that is custom tailored to their tastes, needs, and desires. “We base our recommendations on (the client’s) lifestyle,

profession, and individual taste,” said Fox. Most clients live or work in New York, New Jersey, or Pennsylvania.

Fox Men’s Wear has only a few employees, said Fox, so he is responsible for everything from sales to operations, plus manufacturing.

“At Lafayette I learned the lesson of multitasking, the ability to balance athletics, academics, and a part-time job,” he recalled. “Today I apply that same skill to running my business. The more things change, the more they stay the same.”

‘Focus’ got Geane through Lafayette and beyond

On June 4, Carreker Corp. appointed Geoffrey Geane ’71 sales director in its global

payments technologies (GPT) division. Dallas-based Carreker is a provider of technology and consulting solutions for the financial services industry.

Carreker’s integrated consulting and software solutions are designed to increase revenue and reduce expenses, while improving security and increasing the value of their

customer relationships. Carreker serves more than 250 clients around the world, including more than 75 of the largest 100 banks in the United States.

Geane has 25 years of experience in financial services technology sales, including at HNC Software (now part of Fair Isaac), a leading provider of high-end analytic and decision management software for which he headed North American sales. Geane was previously director of financial industry sales for Oracle Corp. and before that,

a regional sales manager for TRW Financial Systems. After graduating with a bachelors degree in economics, he earned a masters degree in marketing from FairleighDickinsonUniversity.

“We have challenged ourselves to raise the bar even higher on a number of technology fronts,” said GPT president John Carreker, “and Geoff brings us specialized talents to help carry out our commitment.”

It’s about focus, said Geane, which he needed in spades while earning his own way through Lafayette.
