Student Government Meeting Minutes: Sept. 11, 2003

The meeting was called to order at 7:37 p.m. Eleven members were present.

Lee Goldfarb- President
-Hugh Harris was in today to discuss parking, ticket prices, paving, and lighting issues.
-Matt Verbyla of Engineers Without Borders was in today. The Engineering Department is paying for half of costs for their conference; the club is requesting the government for $200 to pay for plane tickets.
-Erich Struble of LAF Review handed in New Club Constitution.
-Discussion with representatives from the Arts Society about the Block Party. They are requesting $500 for co-sponsoring. There will be a Student Government banner and table there.
-Inquiring whether or not to have a BBQ.

Liz Koskinen- Vice President
-Spoke with Prof. Woolley about the first faculty meeting. Received President Rothkopf’s opening remarks. All committee chairs have received their list of representatives.
-Received Student Life minutes for their first meeting.
-Met with Dean Worthen along with Sarah, Lee and Dan about the Sexual Assault Program.
-E-mailed Pam Brewer all the available minutes from last semester. Several meetings do not have minutes for them.

Jon Cohn- Treasurer
-Allocated the Arts Society $0. We will discuss what the yearly budget is for and they will come back if they need more money.

Amy Schwartz- Elections Chair/Secretary
-Elections for Senior Class Council and the open SG positions will be on Monday, Sept. 15th and Tuesday, Sept. 16th, from 12-1 pm and 6-7:30 pm in Farinon. Sign-up sheet was passed around to SG members who could help out with sitting at the voting table.

Ryan Lawlis- Student Organizations
-Approved the constitution for the LAF Review, it is now a new club at Lafayette.

-Met with Erich Struble to help revise the LAF Review constitution.
-Lafayette College Journal of Law approved.

Andrew Kasman- Student Life/Campus Student Services
-Working on the Student Government table which will be at the Block Party.
-Shuttle Bus/Safe Rides flyers/business cards will be out next week.
-Finding out about food for BBQ.

Dan LaTerra- Greek Liaison
-Attended Sexual Assault meeting with Dean Worthen and Cindy Adams. Planning a Q&A which will be held next semester or at the end of this semester.
-Safe Rides started this week. (610) 751-8648.
-Starting a petition with Ryan Sakmar to lower the fees of parking tickets.
-IFC will start meetings this coming week.

Aly Dewji- Farinon Student Services
-E-mailed Joe Binotto about the snack bar issues.
-Only 15% of items in the snack bar went up in price.
-Cost catering guide will be brought in next week.

Sarah Hazel- Community Affairs
-Attended the Wellness Day meeting, there will be a SG booth there. Formed a committee with Dan, Sue and Lee to work on ideas.
-Going to the blood drive planning meeting this Sunday.

Ryan Sakmar- Academic Affairs
-Working on petition with Dan LaTerra for lowering student parking fees.
-Planning the Administration Tea.

Sue Anamier- Multicultural Affairs
-Unable to attend LINC meetings due to a class, but will be speaking with Jadrien Ellison about Come-unity week and the upcoming events sponsored by the Hispanic Society and the Office of Intercultural Development.

The meeting was adjourned at 9:02 pm.
