The Office of Financial Aid has reported on several opportunities for student scholarships:

American Council of Engineering Companies/Pennsylvania Scholarship
This scholarship is worth up to $2,000 with the possibility of an additional $5,000. Applicants must be seniors seeking a B.S. in engineering, in the upper half of their class, and be U.S. citizens. Applications are due Dec. 1 and are available in the Financial Office, 107 Markle Hall, or by contacting ACEC/PA, 2040 Linglestown Road, Suite 200, Harrisburg, PA 17110, or calling 717-540-6811.

American Society of Naval Engineers Scholarship
Applications are available in the Financial Aid Office for the American Society of Naval Engineers Scholarship for the 2004-2005 academic year. Applicants must be U.S. citizens and in their final year of undergraduate study. Scholarships are also available for graduate study. Applicants must demonstrate a genuine interest in a career in naval engineering. The deadline for receipt of scholarship applications is Feb. 15, 2004. Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. Scholarship for Diversity in Engineering and Information Technology
Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. will award three scholarships of $5,000 to be applied toward tuition and fees in 2004-2005. This scholarship is designed to support women and/or minority engineering and information technology students only. The opportunity is available through the Association of Independent Colleges and Universities of Pennsylvania, and applications must be received Oct. 31 unless an extension is obtained. The following criteria apply:
-junior in fall 2004 at AICUP member institution
-minimum GPA of 2.7
-full-time and majoring in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, or computer science.

Liberty Mutual business scholarship
Liberty Mutual is accepting applications for a renewable $5,000 scholarship for qualified juniors who “have an appropriate major and interest in working in a business environment.”Liberty Mutual is also providing an opportunity for the recipients to apply for a paid internship next summer, so there are geographic and academic field qualifications. The deadline for applying is Nov. 1. A minimum GPA of 3.4 is required.

Michael Baker Corporation scholarships for women and minority engineering students
Michael Baker Corporation will award two scholarships of $1,000 to be applied toward tuition and fees in 2004-05. This scholarship is designed to support women and/or minority engineering students only. The opportunity is available through the Association of Independent Colleges and Universities of Pennsylvania, and applications must be received Oct. 31. Applications are due today unless an extension is obtained. The following criteria apply:
-Junior in fall 2004 at AICUP member institution
-Minimum GPA of 3.0
-Full-time and majoring in civil, environmental or architectural engineering
