Students are invited to enter an annual contest sponsored by American Friends of Lafayette, which awards a $250 prize to the author of the best essay about the Marquis de Lafayette.

Essays must be written and submitted by an enrolled student of Lafayette College, 1,000 to 2,000 words in length, and submitted by computer disk or email in Word or WordPerfect format (or typewritten and double-spaced). Entries must be submitted by March 15, 2004, and be addressed to The American Friends of Lafayette Essay Contest Selection Committee, c/o Philip Schroeder, AFL Treasurer, 316 Markle Hall. Questions about the contest may be directed to Schroeder at x5200 or schroedp@lafayette.edu.

Essays will be judged by a committee appointed by the president of the American Friends of Lafayette and, if a winner is selected, the prize will be awarded at the Honors Convocation in April 2004.
