Troy, N.Y., schools honor Mooradian brothers The Troy (N.Y.) Educational PRIDE Foundation honored M. Edward Mooradian ‘45 and R. Mihran Mooradian ‘56 in June for their fund-raising efforts on behalf of the Troy school district from which both graduated. “My college years were interrupted by World War II. In spite of that, they were certainly some of the best years of my life,” said Edward Mooradian. “Professor Joseph Finney was one of my favorite professors. He was a man of integrity who was outspoken and direct.” Edward Mooradian left Lafayette to enter the military during World War II, then returned to graduate with a degree in economics and business in 1947. He later studied at New YorkUniversity’s Graduate School of Retailing, but left to join the family furniture business when his father died. He managed Mooradian’s Furniture store for many years. Mihran Mooradian, a history graduate, received a master’s degree from ClarkUniversity in 1958. He has been president of Mooradian’s Furniture since 1992. He is also a former president of the Cohoes Commerce and Industry Association and the Cohoes Rotary Club. “Having had the opportunity at Lafayette to work with my history honors adviser, Dr. Edwin Coddington, I was able to master the skills necessary to go on to graduate school at ClarkUniversity,” said Mihran Mooradian. “There I encountered many new scholastic challenges which were also helpful to me in later life.”
