Auditions for a Lafayette Idol competition will be held 7-9:15 p.m. today in the back room of Gilbert’s. Lafayette Activities Forum will award cash prizes at the final competition, which will be judged by professional talent agents.

Those trying out should arrive at 6:45 p.m. to sign up for a slot and bring a piece to sing ranging from 90 seconds to two minutes. Auditions will be done a cappella. The top six students will participate in the Lafayette Idol competition 9 p.m. Saturday, March 27, in the Farinon Center Snack Bar.

Judges for the final competition will be Jeff Hyman and Alison Ahart ’03 from Auburn Moon Agency and Kate Magill from Sophie K Entertainment. Audition judges will be biology major Jennifer Barrows ’06 (Clarks Green, Pa.) and her event co-chair, economics and business major Victoria Picone ’05 (Bethlehem, Pa.), as well as Dave Mitchell ’05 (Bear Creek, Pa.), a double major in music and economics & business.
