One hundred twenty members of Lafayette’s fraternities and sororities and three others raised over $5,200 for the fight against multiple sclerosis at the MS Walk in Easton last Sunday.

The fundraiser, which began at Hugh Moore Park, benefited the Greater Delaware Valley Chapter of the National MS Society, which marked its 50th anniversary.

Top fundraisers included A.B. engineering major Tracey Williams ’06 (Wilton, Conn.) of Kappa Kappa Gamma, $1,000; alumni of Delta Kappa Epsilon, $685; history and government & law double major Rory Hart ’04 (Equinunk, Pa.) of Phi Psi, $500; Beth Hendler ’06 (Boca Raton, Fla.) of Pi Phi, $425; Williams’ mother, Suzanne, $315; mechanical engineering major Chris Fowler ’05 (Brielle, N.J.) of Delta Kappa Epsilon, $200; and economics and business major Victoria Picone ’05 (Bethlehem, Pa.) of Tri-Delt, $100.

According to the National MS Society, the organization invests more money into MS research than any national voluntary health organization in the world. In 2003, it funded $380 million in medical research into the cause and cure of MS. It is the leading provider of programs for people with MS and their families.
