Schwarzmann ’84 named American Express Senior VP

American Express Financial Advisors Inc., a unit of American Express, has named Mark Schwarzmann ’84 to the new position of senior vice president of insurance and annuities. An economics and business graduate, Schwarzmann will assume

responsibility for driving new sales of life, health, and annuity products while pursuing other

expansion opportunities.

Previously, Schwarzmann was CEO of Allfinanz, a software company that produces processing and automation software for the insurance industry. Before joining Allfinanz in 2000, Schwarzmann served as senior vice president of wealth

management services at GE Financial Assurance, where he was responsible for developing the market strategy for variable life products, trust products, and long-term health care insurance business products.

Schwarzmann will be relocating to the Minneapolis area from Virginia, but takes his Lafayette experience everywhere he goes.

“Jerry Heavey [professor of economics and business] . . . took an interest and supported me, even nominating me for the McKelvy scholars program my junior year,” recalls Schwarzmann. “That support and vote of confidence helped me to step up my performance at Lafayette academically and

positioned me for successful

transition first to GE and now into American Express.”
