Lafayette welcomes back alumni and their families for the 2004 Alumni Reunion Friday-Sunday, June 4-6.

Reunion will feature the traditional alumni parade, tours of Easton, concerts, and other events, and will include links to the upcoming national election. Classes graduating in 1954, 1959, 1964, 1969, 1974, 1979, 1984, 1989, 1994, and 1999 are returning for class receptions.

Reunion College and Reunion Forums, beginning at 9 a.m. Friday, will address the political process, ranging from an examination of government institutions, the Constitution, and the Electoral College to national political conventions, campaign finance, and even political humor. Sessions include “Presidential Television Advertising: Changing the Leopard’s Spots?” featuring James Lennertz, associate professor of government and law; “Public Policy on the Campaign Trail: Technology Issues & Outsourcing,” featuring David Veshosky, associate professor of civil and environmental engineering, chair of A.B. engineering, and director of research services, and Sharon Jones, associate professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering; and “Presidential Elections and National Political Conventions: A Reporter’s Perspective,” featuring Keith Martin ’68, director of homeland security in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

There will be a golf outing at 11 a.m. Friday at Whitetail Golf Course, and an all-College reception and dinner on the Quad beginning at 6:30 p.m., followed by a dance at 9 p.m.

At 11:30 a.m. Saturday the alumni parade will bring together alumni and their families, marching bands, classic cars, and antique trolleys downtown around Center Square. It will be followed by a picnic on the Quad, with games and pony rides for children, marching and bagpipe bands, and a clown and magician. There will also be tours of Easton’s popular attractions, including The Crayola Factory and National Canal Museum at Two Rivers Landing and Weyerbacher Brewing Company.

The Office of Admissions will offer a college search workshop at 1:30 p.m., and the Graduates will perform at 2:30 p.m.

Also on Saturday Lafayette will host “Lauren’s First and Goal Football Camp,” from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Metzgar Athletic Campus to benefit the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation of the United States. Leopard defensive coordinator John Loose is organizing the event, which is named in honor of Loose’s seven-year-old daughter, Lauren, who was diagnosed with multiple brain tumors at age 2. The Loose family has experienced first-hand the invaluable support of the foundation.
