The MG James Ursano Scholarship administered by Army Emergency Relief has announced that application information is now available on its web site.

Army Emergency Relief offers financial assistance for undergraduate study to dependent children of Army soldiers. In 2004-2005, 1,995 scholarships were awarded, ranging from $900-$1,900. Awards are primarily based on financial need.

Applicants must be:

  • dependent children, stepchildren or legally adopted children of Army soldiers on active duty, retired, or deceased while on active duty or after retirement (children of Grey Area Reservists are also eligible);
  • unmarried for the entire academic year;
  • under the age of 22 on May 1, 2005.

Applications for the 2005-06 academic year can be completed on line or printed from the web site from Nov. 1, 2004 through March 1, 2005. The application must be complete, accurate, and contain all required documents and signatures. Supporting documents (AER Form 4R, Military orders, Official transcript) must be received by March 1, and the 2005-06 Student Aid Report by May 2, 2005.
