The opportunity to do research with Professor William Hart focused his career aspirations, says Paul Thurston ’60. He entered Lafayette wanting to become a chemist, and left wanting to become a chemistry professor. “Prof. Hart played an important role in my getting into graduate school. He even took us to visit schools,” says Thurston, professor emeritus of chemistry at Texas Southern University, whose research focused on the use of computers in higher chemistry education
