Opportunities to play leadership roles as fraternity president, lacrosse team captain, and member of the Knights of the Round Table helped prepare Richard W. Graham ’56 for his management role in industry. “When you’re fairly young and in those positions, it’s a good testing ground. You decide what style works for you,” says Graham, who retired as chief executive officer of Smurfit-Stone Container Corp. “It was a small school, and when you walked across campus you knew almost everybody, and they knew you. It felt like family, and it has stayed that way.”
