“Internships really help students see firsthand what’s out there,” says Vicki Salemi ’95, global mobility manager for KPMG and internship sponsor. “For instance, my group handles all aspects of international human resources. There is no major in international H.R., so interns are exposed to fields they never would have known existed,” she says. “Also, students realize the power of the Lafayette connection and may be inspired to give back themselves. A few years ago I got a flier in the mail asking alums if they wanted to host a summer intern, and that’s how it started. I like giving back because I feel I’m in a position to help.”
