Kappa Delta Rho fraternity and Pi Beta Phi sorority will host the 26th Annual Dance Marathon from 4 p.m. Friday to 4 p.m. Saturday in the Marlo Room upstairs in the Farinon Center.

The event will include live music, games, and prizes. Performers include the Dance Team, cheerleaders, and The Chorduroys, Lafayette’s male a cappella group. Robert Allan, associate professor of psychology, and Al-Amin Mehdi Kheraj ’08 (Atlanta, Ga.) will be DJs. Performances will be given by civil and environmental engineering major Kevin Fitzpatrick ’05 (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) on guitar and by English major Dan Fast ’05 (Succasunna, N.J.) and his rock band. There will also be karaoke. The rest of the night will feature a poker tournament, Singled Out, and other games. The event will end with the Lip Sync/Dance Contest on Saturday.

This year’s theme is Casino Night. English major Joanna Mack ’05 (Lafayette Hill, Pa.) is organizing the event.

“We’re not sure of all our prizes yet,” she says. “As of now, we have gift certificates to Marsilios, Pizza D’oro, Morici’s, Posey Peddler, tanning salons, and driving ranges. We are still waiting for the rest of the donations to come in.”

Dancers will raise money through sponsors that include local businesses, alumni, parents, and students. All proceeds will go to the Children’s Home of Easton. Additional money for the organization comes from campus fundraisers.

According to English major Elizabeth Feinberg ’05 (Hastings On Hudson, N.Y.) of Pi Beta Phi, this year’s goal is to significantly increase donations.

“Last year we raised $5,000, and this year we are hoping to double that figure,” she says.
