Stradley Ronon Stevens & Young, LLP has selected Jonathan M. Kopcsik ’92 to join the firm’s nationally ranked investment management group in its Philadelphia office.
“It’s been a very positive experience,” he says, “and I’m glad I made the move.”
The group counsels investment companies, hedge funds, investment advisers, and broker-dealers on regulatory and compliance matters. Kopcsik says the new position involves a greater breadth of work and more complex issues than what he encountered as an associate at Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP.
“It’s more challenging because of the current regulatory environment and more enjoyable because I’ve gotten to a level where I have more responsibility assisting clients,” he says.
A government and law graduate, Kopcsik says his college experience was an invaluable asset.
“My time at Lafayette provided me with a strong foundation for my legal career,” he explains. “Having a liberal arts background taught me to think creatively, which is important when counseling business clients. Plus, there was a good mix of social activities on campus that prepared me for interacting with clients and other lawyers.”
He adds that Andrew Fix, Charles A. Dana Professor and head of history, and Howard G. Schneiderman, professor and head of anthropology and sociology, were especially memorable.
“I thought that they were outstanding professors. They really made me think and were very provocative,” says Kopcsik. “They made the subject matter very entertaining and interesting.”
He is a graduate of Temple University School of Law.
