The Lafayette chapter of Delta Upsilon International Fraternity has received the award of Excellence in Public Relations.

The award was presented at the organization’s 2005 Leadership Institute in Denver, Colo.

The Lafayette chapter was honored for maintaining a positive image throughout the community through an effective public relations program.

“Delta Upsilon is certainly deserving of the award, as they do a spectacular job of advertising and eliciting interest in their events. DU’s commitment to public relations serves as a model for other Greek organizations on campus,” says Terry Weber, assistant director of residence life and adviser to fraternities and sororities.

The fraternity’s events include an annual balloon launch to raise funds for the Boys and Girls Club of Easton.

Delta Upsilon, established in 1834, has chapters and colonies on 84 campuses across the United States and Canada. The fraternity, founded on the Williams College campus in Williamstown, Mass., is the oldest non-secret, Greek-letter society.
