Trustee Scholar and mathematics major Pat Kelley ’09 (Shillington, Pa.) will perform a solo acoustic guitar set 8 p.m. Saturday at the Quadrant Bookmart & Coffeehouse, 20 North Third St., Easton. The coffeehouse is located three blocks from the foot of College Hill just before the traffic circle. Cover charge is $5.

Kelley describes his music as a mix of rock, indie, and pop similar to that of Ben Folds, David Bowie, Velvet Underground, and Ben Kweller. He began playing acoustic guitar and composing his own songs when he was 16.

“I play acoustic guitar at these gigs because there aren’t any other guys in a band to play with,” he says. “It’s that coffeehouse vibe. It’s cool, but sparse.”

Saturday will be Kelley’s first appearance at Quadrant Bookmart & Coffeehouse, a location he stumbled upon while seeking out small venues that booked shows by single performers.

“Performing is cool because it’s really great to have other people hear my music,” he says. “It’s a lot of fun.”
