U.S. CHAMBER OF COMMERCE NAMES ROTHKOPF SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT AND COUNSELOR TO THE PRESIDENT
The chamber expands its intellectual capital by naming former Lafayette President Arthur J. Rothkopf ’55 senior vice president. He will assist on several initiatives including workforce development, education, and transportation, as well as assist with a new initiative on capital markets.

WILLIAM B. FARINON ’39 DIES
William B. Farinon ’39 died Aug. 25 at his home in San Mateo, Calif. He was 88. Farinon College Center is named in honor of Farinon and his wife, P T, who provided a contribution of $11 million toward the $16 million cost of the center, which opened in 1991. In the late 1980s Farinon helped Lafayette pioneer in a new arena of electronics.

JOURNAL OF ORGANIC CHEMISTRY PUBLISHES PAPER COAUTHORED BY STUDENTS AND PROFESSOR

PORTER ’06 HELPS CREATE MATHEMATICAL MODEL OF CARDIOVASCULAR SYSTEM
Marquis Scholar Josh Porter ’06 is helping design a mock circulatory system to improve the testing of devices used for heart-failure patients as an EXCEL Scholar with Yih-Choung Yu, assistant professor of electrical and computer engineering. They will present the research at Biomedical Engineering Society’s annual conference this fall.

FOOTBALL SEASON DEDICATED TO TOM NORTON ’59
The football program is dedicating the 2005 season in memory of Thomas W. Norton ’59. The Leopards will wear “TWN” decals on their helmets. An industrial engineering graduate, Sheryl Welsh Hyman ’85 has been promoted to vice president of automotive sales and marketing for Robert Bosch Corp. Previously, she was vice president, original equipment sales for Asian, European, and heavy-duty customers. She received an MBA from University of South Carolina.
