The Jazz Ensemble will present its annual winter concert 8 p.m. Friday at the Williams Center for the Arts, featuring two student vocalists and an arrangement by ensemble alumnus Jack Furlong ’05.

The varied program will include the big band standard “Moten Swing” as recorded by the Count Basie Orchestra, “Mercy, Mercy, Mercy” as recorded by the Buddy Rich Big Band, and Woody Herman’s “Apple Honey.” Also on tap will be Duke Ellington’s and Juan Tizol’s “Caravan” as recently arranged by Andrew Yozviak, Phil Woods’ composition “E’toile Y’All,” and the Thad Jones composition “Us.”

Singing on “A Nightengale Sang in Berkeley Square” and “In the Wee Small Hours of the Morning” will be economics & business major Viktorija Gecyte ’08 (Vilnius, Lithuania) and anthropology & sociology major Kara Boodakian ’07 (Winchester, Mass.). In addition, the group will perform Furlong’s arrangement of “From Russia with Love.”
